Starting Sunday, April 8 and continuing through Tuesday, May 8 I will be taking a full month away from my duties as pastor of Goss Memorial Church.
What this means practically:
- I will only have emergency contact if necessary as a pastor (life and death crises/funerals)
- I plan to suspend use of all my current social media accounts.
- I will not post on this blog again until the middle of May.
- The goal of a sabbatical is rest. Another word: reset, refresh.
- This will be a time to invest in my relationships with my wife and kids.
- This will be a time to seek God and grow in my walk with Him apart from my role as a pastor.
Will you pray:
- That I would decrease during this time, and God would increase? I am excited to be refreshed in my study and worship of God.
- That I would truly find deep spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical rest?
- That God would bring about repentance for any sinful patterns that may have developed in my thinking or actions that He would choose to reveal during this time?
- That my family would remember this in the future as a time when dad/husband was renewed?
- That my family (especially Julie!!) won’t tire of my extra availability.
- For safety and provision in a few opportunities to travel?
- That God would bless our church in amazing ways during this time and encourage our leadership who have approved of the use of this time for this purpose?
