Tuesday Rambling…posting late night so you probably won’t see this until Wednesday. Breathe. It’s okay 🙂Â
- Did you celebrate Easter this past Sunday?
- Why? No really, why?
- I ran into some folks Saturday in the midst of making plans. Those plans sounded fun, but didn’t have anything to do with Jesus.
- For many, Easter parallels Christmas – a celebration of a holiday stripped from spiritual meaning.
- Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not necessarily opposed to celebrating holidays.Â
- Neither do I expect everyone to share my worldview and celebrate the same as I would.
- But in reflecting, it occurred to me that in an increasingly secular culture, the decision to celebrate Jesus will come with intentionality and possibly with pushback.
- Some may not understand. Again, I wouldn’t be offended that someone lacking any knowledge of Jesus failed to celebrate Jesus at Easter.
- Some may actually disagree, mock, or even hate. Then what?
- As I reflected on the idea of knowing the power of the resurrection (my sermon text involved a look at Philippians 3:7-11), I realized believers must prepare for some to hate that power.Â
- Allowing someone outside of our control, our decisions, our authority to take control and bring about change in us may actually tick some people off in our day and age.
- Yes, embrace the power. No, don’t fear the brush back.
- No, don’t judge those who don’t know.Â
- Yes, desire their radical life change.
- Yes, trust Jesus can actually do that!
