Rambling today about the war…
- Do you find it hard to watch the war?
- I do. I have some inner conflict about all this.
- The media usually try to find extreme examples to make us afraid. They try to show some of the worst situations.
- But in the case of this particular war, the extreme equals reality.
- The suffering lies not within, but beyond the realm of understanding and imagining.
- Over 2.5 million people have fled? Phoenix boasts a population of about 2.3 million. Does that provide perspective?
- Forces of a rival nation bring terror and unknown. Families, society, cities, buildings – all torn.
- And so I watch. Out of concern, interest, some other motive?
- And then I turn it off and go about my life. Or watch a ballgame.
- I know westerners can do little in a physical sense. I wish I prayed more.
- Addressing the disquiet in my soul (our souls) requires a wrestling. It demands time.
- Lord, don’t allow me to miss an opportunity.
- If I watch out of concern, I should respond with the weapons God has given.
- Weapon 1: prayer.
- Weapon 2: Supporting those sharing the Gospel in word and deed by serving refugees.
- How else do you find balance as you tune in and tune out of such a great disaster?
