Happy Tuesday: Time to ramble about faith.
- The Bible points to faith as the foundation of a relationship with God (Ephesians 2:8-9).
- Faith demands we trust without knowing the details.
- Faith diminishes self and exalts God.
- Faith says: “I have to trust someone besides myself, and I willingly do that.”
- Therefore, faith reduces the chance for ourselves receiving glory and willingly transfers that to someone else: God!
- In the Bible, the biggest struggles to maintain faith came when circumstances pressed in hard.
- The Israelites had just seen the parting of the Red Sea, but had no food and cried out against God.
- Job possessed about everything a man could own (blessed by God’s hand), but struggled amidst extreme circumstances.
- I wouldn’t suggest Jesus’ faith in the Father’s plan could have departed, but He did struggle in the hour of trial, asking if another way might be possible (yet he firmly submitted).
- My plea: we should not let challenging circumstances erode our faith or somehow justify our right to complain.
- We may not know or understand God’s plans for our present situation, but we should trust He is enough. Always.
- “Job never saw why he suffered, but he saw God, and that was enough.” – Tim Keller
- Faith says “God, I don’t know, it hurts, I don’t like it. This has gone on for a long time. But I trust you. And You are enough.”
