I’m rambling today about preparing for the upcoming storm…

  • In case you haven’t heard, forecasters say a huge storm will bring major impact to our region starting Wednesday night.
  • How should we prepare?
  • Charge devices. Charge devices that charge devices.
  • Make sure we have plenty of food and water in case the power goes out.
  • Get an extra shovel or make sure we have salt.
  • Clear the drain in the street or the area where your dryer vents outside.
  • All of these basic preps protect you and your loved ones. Some even help the common good.
  • Am I stretching a bit to look for spiritual parallels?
  • Those who see the future proclaim warnings of danger ahead.
  • People are encouraged to prepare.
  • Adequate preparation should reduce the overall impact of the storm.
  • Likewise, the Bible often provides warning for our eternal destiny.
  • Judgment will come to earth some day. It will come to our souls at death.
  • The Bible proclaims warning and tells people to prepare.
  • Instead of physical provision, the Bible calls for faith (in Jesus’ work for us) and worship as protection to mitigate the impact of life’s storms as well as ensure our eternal destination.
  • If we don’t prepare for coming ice and snow, we risk harm to ourselves or our property.
  • If we don’t prepare spiritually, we won’t find ourselves ready when our time to meet Jesus finally arrives.
  • See Matthew 25:1-13 for a great illustration about preparation.
