Rambling about yesterday’s Facebook outage…
- and Instagram, and WhatsApp…
- What did it feel like for you that Facebook went down?
- Did you care? Did you notice?
- On one hand, I appreciated the irony. The very thing designed to connect us left us feeling disconnected.
- The timing also added intrigue. A whistleblower interview the night before, congressional testimony ongoing – hmmmmmm….
- Did you REALLY miss it? If so, why? Has the platform got you addicted?
- If you immediately ran to another platform and spent a lot of time there, why?
- If you found it refreshing, you know you can take a day off here and there? Right?
- I would definitely encourage that. I take Wednesday away from social media until the evening and it really does help.
- Did you look for the best jokes? The best one I saw said that with Facebook’s outage came a significant drop in independent vaccine research (please laugh!!)
- Or, did you think how the outage might negatively affect people?
- Some rely on it for business, important communication, medical needs, etc.
- Situations like this always give us opportunity to see into others’ lives and perspectives.
- Not wrong to both laugh and understand others’ concerns. I just always like to keep a wide perspective when possible.
- And certainly, take the events of yesterday and ask God to reveal anything that has a grip on your heart.
- Let nothing or no one enslave you except Christ!
