Total rambling today – no topics, no holds barred

  • What annual traditions do you observe?
  • On your annual calendar, what is the most unique gathering of people?
  • Traditions mark time, seasons, differences, sadness, joy.
  • I’ve thought quite a bit recently about relationships.
  • Some fade over time. Many would understand this as normal.
  • Some take long breaks but still a strong bond exists.
  • Some can communicate well despite long gaps.
  • I am preaching through the purpose of our local church.
  • If you don’t attend the church I lead, how is your church’s purpose communicated?
  • How can you assist in carrying out your church’s purposes well?
  • What about the combination of local church and commitment?
  • Do you consume? Or, do you contribute?
  • Would your financial records show this group of people carry strong meaning for you?
  • What about the sacrifice of time?
  • Do you have the availability to invest in people? What about serving?
  • I have struggled in recent years with the lack of character among people I once admired.
  • Individuals can gain a platform due to skill, wisdom, and knowledge. Yet, they can lack the character which should accompany that platform.
  • Many Christian leaders have stayed silent about abuse. I’m not talking about some “woke” stance someone should have.
  • I’m talking about abuse in Christian churches and organizations.
  • And in these situations, leaders often stay silent or work to preserve the organization above their responsibility to care for people hurt by the actions of others.
  • Please pray today, if you think of it. Family and friends will gather in our neighborhood to support a young gal whose baby died last week. Pray for the pastor (not myself) who will do the funeral service.
