It’s Tuesday. Let’s get ready to ramble!!

Family

  • It was a joy to have my mother come and stay with us a couple days to help Julie be able to go on the retreat with our church’s youth. It’s great for me to see Julie doing ministry she genuinely loves.
  • It’s amazing to me in the Old Testament how much family is a place where faith is lived and spread. Sin can affect a family; so can living for God! (Here’s hoping you’ll pick the right one and enjoy the family benefits).

World Issues

  • Pray for Syria. Wow, what a mess. What suffering. God, have mercy!
  • Pray for Japan as a typhoon comes toward Tokyo (as of this morning the typhoon was weakening).
  • Pray for India, where immense suffering is now added to devastating poverty in the wake of a typhoon that hit over the weekend.  Thankfully, the loss of life was not catastrophic (only in the teens in a densely populated area). But, the loss of livelihood is striking and should be worth our prayers as the gospel is shared in the wake of this loss.
  • Pray for Saeed Abedini, a pastor suffering in harsh conditions in an Iranian prison.  May God’s mercy visit Iran on Saeed’s behalf, and all who suffer oppression in Iran.

Brandon Weeden

  • Hey, when you throw a pass this bad, you get your own heading in my rambling. Watching this will truly lift you up if you’re having a down day.  It’s worth a laugh!

Baseball

  • What a great post-season that is going on. Crucial games tonight!
  • I hope the Yankees don’t have Alex Rodriguez for 2014.
  • A Dodgers – Red Sox series would be great, considering the trade they pulled off last year.  Players from both sides of that trade are contributing well for both teams.  Although, if the Sox didn’t make it, I wouldn’t be too heartbroken.

From the Quote Book

  • “Sometimes a person’s mind is stretched by a new idea and never does go back to its old dimensions.” – Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.
