Good Monday Morning! As usual, Monday means challenge. I found these three articles challenging. Maybe you will as well…
Conversations About Abuse
Why do we have such a hard time having conversations about abuse? Check out this article to think through this. A snippet:
“One challenge is that people often don’t start with the same question guiding the conversation. Two questions can frame conversations about responding to a report of abuse.”
Question: From what perspective do you approach the topic of abuse?
Greek Language
In yesterday’s sermon I looked at two types of verbs – indicative and imperative. This article shows the importance of understanding the difference. I guarantee you’ll feel smarter after reading this!
Question: How does this article help you better understand your identity in God’s eyes?
False Pictures of God
This article exposes us the process of adjusting our views of God when we don’t have the correct ones.
Question: How does this affect you personally, or how you view others? What does this speak to the grace of God?
Conversations about Abuse: “This does not eliminate the concern of church leaders who fear they could lose their opportunity to do ministry based on a false accusation. For the 2-7% of individuals who are falsely accused, that is 100% of their experience and what determines their future.” I supposed some falsely accused ministers are kicked out of the ministry, but I doubt it’s 100%. Heck, in today’s evangelical world, even those CREDIBLY ACCUSED get a pass and return to ministry if they are charismatic and popular enough!
Overall, however, the article is good and the closing paragraphs are really great
