Tuesday Rambling 3.3.20 – Coronavirus

Only a few rambling thoughts today about the serious coronavirus…

  • Maybe you have stocked your cupboards.
  • Maybe you don’t want to hear another word about it.
  • Maybe you think the disease justifies panic.
  • Maybe you don’t care one bit.
  • Maybe you fall in the middle and fit into the class of the concerned.
  • Of concern: how would you navigate a two week quarantine?
  • Also of concern: could your preparation to avoid the disease help others who do actually get it?
  • Should we strive to minimize exposure to make sure potential victims have enough care? (hospital beds, resources, etc.)
  • Does this disease cause you panic? Do you fear dying? Do you have any peace in the middle of a global health event?
  • These types of questions should at the very least challenge what you think about God, His sovereignty, and your eternal destination?
  • Do you pray for those fighting it? Suffering from it? The families of those who have died? Or do a few jokes suffice?
  • Do you pray for leaders who must plan for local, regional, or national impact?
  • Do you believe God could eradicate the disease today if He so desired?
  • We can always take world events as some sort of a guide to pray and seek God. In times of fear, the message of Jesus, His love, and His promise of eternity can meet unsettled people with real hope.

Tuesday Rambling 12.5.17 – Christmas and Grief

A common topic. Time to ramble: The Holidays often bring reminders of grief. Cherished memories clash with present realities of loved ones' absence. Added for me is the reality of personal loss and friends' personal loss, all in December. It makes for a hard month. So...

My beautiful bride, Julie, and I were married in 1999.  We are blessed to raise and shepherd three children.
Some of my hobbies are running, theology, the following baseball, and learning about the church in America in 2013.
I am passionate about the Word of God.  My faith in Jesus Christ and the resulting power of the Holy Spirit living inside me has brought me to a place in my life where I desire to look for God’s purposes in everything.  There is no other way to say it: I have been thoroughly changed by Jesus and I labor so others will live changed lives in Jesus as well.
