It’s Tuesday. Today’s topic: things I don’t know about race. Time to ramble.

  • I don’t know what it’s like to be a minority.
  • I don’t know the pain of past or present injustices.
  • I don’t understand the reality of being profiled due to my skin color.
  • I don’t have relatives who lived segregated lives.
  • I’ve never lived in fear or paused in fear simply because of my skin color.
  • I don’t know too well the ways African American (or other ethno-centric) churches can be a big benefit to the people who are a part of them.
  • I think it’s important to start by admitting what we don’t know. I just can’t relate.
  • In the absence of knowledge and experience, I refuse to develop my thinking exclusively with my own thoughts and with majority opinion and thought.
  • I think the picture of the nations before the throne in Revelation speaks much louder than anything I could ever arrive at on my own.
