Tuesday Rambling 4.7.20 – Self Care During the Pandemic

Caring for yourself during the pandemic…

  • Of course, the best advice I could give would involve seeking God with great passion.
  • If you don’t have a relationship with God, consider acknowledging your sin and helplessness before God. Turn from your sin and trust Christ as the One who died in your place, paying the penalty God demands for our sin. Trust that your spot in heaven is secured through trusting Christ died for you and rose from the dead.
  • Live each day out of that relationship! Pray, tell God specific requests, and give thanks (Philippians 4:6-7).
  • Take time to hear from Him in His Word. You should be able to find any number of Bible reading plans. If you’re just starting, do a 30 or 60 day plan, something manageable.
  • Consider obeying God by sharing the truth of Jesus with someone in your life who needs to know. Pray for open doors and opportunities.  It may seem like “one more thing to do” but it can bring you great joy to obey and see results.
  • A few other suggestions…
  • Turn off the news. Limit how much you view.
  • Do something you might not normally do. Read a good novel. Find a good show to watch. This article features 30 things to watch for your family.
  • Rest. Do nothing for a couple hours. Go to bed early.
  • Play a game. Have some fun.
  • If you like to hike, go to a park (while staying distanced please). I’m glad they haven’t told us we can’t enjoy outdoor exercise!
  • Get some of your favorite takeout or drink an extra cup of coffee. (Sorry for those of you non-coffee-lovers!) Eat some (SOME!) comfort food.
  • I wouldn’t call any of this earth-shattering, just some things to consider.
  • Finally, give thanks in all circumstances. If you don’t have what you want right now, praise God for providing what you need.

My beautiful bride, Julie, and I were married in 1999.  We are blessed to raise and shepherd three children.
Some of my hobbies are running, theology, the following baseball, and learning about the church in America in 2013.
I am passionate about the Word of God.  My faith in Jesus Christ and the resulting power of the Holy Spirit living inside me has brought me to a place in my life where I desire to look for God’s purposes in everything.  There is no other way to say it: I have been thoroughly changed by Jesus and I labor so others will live changed lives in Jesus as well.
