Tuesday Rambling 4.21.20 – Ramble Stew

When you throw everything in the pot, you get “Ramble Stew”:

  • What about your faith during the virus? Central? An after thought? The Bible central to your life? Regular time for prayer and worship? God really in control or just a nice saying on a calendar or wall hanging?
  • From my view, control will rank as one of the lasting themes of this entire disaster. We (plural) in our society expect and operate from a place of having control of our lives.
  • Much of what now witness in human behavior stems from inability to lose control.
  • Part of me laughs at the NFL trying to do their draft this week. We have no idea if a 2020 season will even happen! Guess the players will need homes and destinations…
  • When it comes to MLB, NBA, and NHL re-starting, money will rule the day. Players need paid. TV money will prove too much to turn down.
  • Sports will happen mostly without fans. Only my hunch.
  • Unfortunately, the handling of this virus has only further highlighted the dysfunction in our political system. Regionally, some states and groups of states have done well. Federally (all parties involved) we’re still a mess.
  • Do you have $1000 or more in the bank to cover emergencies?
  • I understand many will need the federal stimulus money to pay bills.
  • But if you don’t, how about putting some back to cover future emergency situations?
  • Doctors, nurses, first responders, hospital employees, those directly affected by sickness and suffering should top the lists of those most affected.
  • But right up there we should include small business owners, especially those non-essential. At least in Ohio, I understand they encounter a high level of difficulty when it comes to collecting benefits or applying for loans and grants.
  • Let me end my rambling by encouraging you. You can do it. God’s presence surrounds us. He can give us peace beyond our understanding.
  • Calm, still, pray, seek, cry, worship, repent, trust, faith. Let words like this light your path in this dark season!

Tuesday Rambling 4.2.18 – Complete and Total Rambling

No theme today. Just complete and total rambling: The college basketball championship game was a real dud. 2 Kings 17:16-17 must be two of the most depressing verses in the Old Testament. Israel had everything they need to excel and enjoy God's favor. Instead, they...

My beautiful bride, Julie, and I were married in 1999.  We are blessed to raise and shepherd three children.
Some of my hobbies are running, theology, the following baseball, and learning about the church in America in 2013.
I am passionate about the Word of God.  My faith in Jesus Christ and the resulting power of the Holy Spirit living inside me has brought me to a place in my life where I desire to look for God’s purposes in everything.  There is no other way to say it: I have been thoroughly changed by Jesus and I labor so others will live changed lives in Jesus as well.
