Challenging believers in Jesus to think and act based on Bible truth.

On my mind #35: five one sentence statements about politics

File this in the category of “I used to be a social studies major.” You might also file this under the category of “Why did this idiot post about politics?”

In all seriousness, let these five statements challenge you. You don’t have to agree, but I ask you to think and challenge yourself if you’re interested or sparked in any way.

Without further ado, here are five one sentence statements about politics:

1. I believe this country was founded on a very strong concept of individual liberty and I don’t think we should support government that restricts or removes our liberty or the liberty of the unborn.

2. I fully understand that affirming personal liberty means that some will mis-use it and that some will have more than others.

3. Freedom of speech as guaranteed by our Constitution means that I will commit to respecting and loving individuals, even those whose speech I vehemently disagree with.

4. I refuse to form an opinion based on ANY political ad and I commit to researching candidates and issues for myself.

5. If the freedoms granted me by the United States constitution were removed tomorrow and I was suddenly subjected to foreign rule and persecution, it would not change my identity as a citizen in the Kingdom of God granted me through faith in Jesus Christ and repentance of my sins (Mark 1:15)
