Not the most exciting title, I know. Well, let’s be honest, it’s not the most exciting thing or place I’m featuring in this post. And it has nothing to do with an 80’s song.

I will be going to Haiti this summer with our church and a couple other churches from the US as well. We’ll serve with a missions organization doing various kinds of work and ministry.

I can’t wait.

I can’t wait to go to a place where the outsider is rich, not poor. I can’t wait to go to a place where I’m the funny looking one because of my skin color. I can’t wait to go experience the marvelous truth that Jesus’ love transcends cultures and socioeconomics.

I can’t wait to travel with people who will have their minds and faith stretched. I can’t wait to feel like I’m not in control, like the plan isn’t mine, like the day isn’t planned.

I can’t wait to go to a place with incredible need, but with the hope of sharing incredible love. I hope we can be an encouragement to the believers there, and the other U.S.believers we’ll get to know. I pray that hearts will be open to the love of Christ, and I look forward to celebrating with new believers the glory of what Jesus is doing in their lives.

It will be challenging, physically tough, emotionally tougher, and spiritually . . . wonderful.

I can’t wait.
