Another Monday, another week of links and bullets.  Today’s theme (not that I really have one week to week) is identity.  As you follow through the articles and thoughts, a lot of them will have to do with this theme.

LINK OF THE WEEK

–Two this week:  1) Three ways sin distorts our identity  2) Razor blades in the offering (short, very powerful)

THE CHRISTIAN FAITH

–Are our relationships trusting?  Here are some good questions that will help evaluate that.

–Going through a storm of life?  Here are four great truths to help you remember God is with you.

MISCELLANEOUS

–Sports:  A great article about the Browns loss.

–Apple:  This video compares speeds of iPhone 4 and 4s.  There is a difference, but really, how far can smartphones really go?  Aren’t they basically doing the same things?

–Teens and kids: 1) interesting study about teens and sex 2) good read on kids and gaming.

BULLET THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

IDENTITY:

  • If you are a Christian, does your identity change by social setting and season of life?  Is the Bible your guide for all situations?  We have an identity in Christ that helps us overcome every obstacle in life!
  • Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature, with its passions and desires (Galatians 5:24).  I hope that speaks power into your life.  How crucified are the passions and desires we have that don’t glorify God?
  • Food for thought: Two people who have experienced the same difficult situation of sexual abuse can handle it in drastically different ways depending on where they are finding their identity.
  • THE PRIMARY and most EVERLASTING relationship I have is with Jesus.  Even my marriage won’t define me for eternity.

MISCELLANEOUS:

  • I need wisdom always.
  • I am praying much for the movement of God.
  • The values in the kingdom of God are unlike things we see in earthly kingdoms.
  • I saw the movie “Courageous” over the weekend.  It’s a good, challenging film.  I give it a “B” to a “B+”.
  • I am getting the motivation to start running again.  It’s been about three weeks.  Yes, I’ll be looking at training this winter.
  • I love days where I can be alone, pray, plan, etc.  Got one coming up soon.
  • A great challenge from Jesus praying alone:  when we pray alone, it destroys the possibility that we are trying to perform for someone else.  Only God knows what we pray and what is on our hearts.  Hmmmmm…….

IPAD 2 CONTEST:  For those who read this blog I will be giving away an iPad 2.  The drawing will be November 7.  The contest and rules will be available October 31.  You will have one week to complete a 20 question quiz about the past year of blog entries.  Those e-mailing at least 15 correct answers will be entered in a drawing for a new or refurbished iPad 2.  Winner will be notified November 7.  There will be no restrictions for who can win (other than my wife!).  If you don’t prefer the iPad 2, we will help directly pay a bill that would help you out.  This contest is nothing more than a challenge to freely give away something I really want.  I really hope whoever wins the iPad is truly blessed by it!
