Here is the article that drew the most attention from my Monday post.

Don’t stage a kidnapping at youth group.

A few thoughts:

1. Part of this has to do with youth ministry culture.

Listen, I’d be lying if I said that in planning for some evangelistic talks this sort of thing never entered my mind.  Don’t think I’d have done anything close to this, but part of it is that in youth culture a lot of times you feel a pressure to do something cool.

2. Part of this has to do with no common sense.

To not tell anyone about doing this?  Wow.  I don’t get how you can think this was really a good idea.  You really think teens won’t be upset about this, let alone their parents? Further, how on earth does one think this is going to honor the Lord?

3. A full felony kidnapping seems a bit harsh.

I think once everything is investigated some sort of charge will be filed and handled.  And to be honest, I’m not sure someone needs to lose their job over it if they’re willing to learn from a mistake like this.  But yes, some sort of justice should be brought as a lesson to someone who thought it was a good idea.

Have a great Friday everyone!
